My thoughts:

the play is to go on contact.
To me, Tre looked to be jogging expecting to be out by a mile and get hung up in a run down to allow Merrifield to get to third and Beloso to second.

Not ideal, but you still have 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out and that is the decision you make when you either decide to go on contact, or read the down angle of the hit, or the 3B coach tells you go on contact anywhere except to 3B or P.

I think the crap slide was a result of not knowing the 3B was double pumping, Tre being surprised that he was not out by more, and at the last minute he sees the catcher expecting the ball and thats the best he came up with.

Sucks, but this was no doubt the gamechanger.

Adding salt to the wound, Wes Johnson calling get me over curveballs that were getting blasted rather than sticking with fastballs that hitters were late on and fouling off. Take that to Georgia.

Ok. thats it. Lets beat TN today

2nd and 3rd with one out would not have been a bad situation. Probably would have drawn a walk next to set up the dp though.
