If he slid head first and made a swim move, he's safe. He lost all momentum by going in awkwardly, feet first, and made himself a giant target in the process.

That might sound like a lot to think about in the heat of the moment to some people, but it's a play that happens all the time, and the majority of the time the baserunner will go head first and slide wide. It's really not difficult. People are upset with the decision to send him, but I was not. I just didn't like the slide. Lacked common sense.

Look I almost made all stars when I was 12 so I would consider myself somewhat of a base running expert. With that being said I disagree with you.

If he stretches to slide into home as he should have that throw probably hits him. Lots of “ifs” on that play.
