Didn’t leave him in there longer to break his confidence. His next outing is going to be solid .

Love Guidry, but smart move by JJ. O’Connor would’ve left him in until we gave up the lead. PM too probably

No brainer. Those who said leave him in are clowns.

Why does anyone think this was controversial

I have no problem with that move like a lot of melt on here was saying. Cooper has been more reliable and Guidry is a freshman. You can't leave him in after that pitch. That pitch was awful and hung right over the plate to get blasted like it did.

The 3 games before this all saw a pitcher getting left out to dry longer than made sense and led to either a blown lead or a loss. Jay wasn’t about to be 4

Guidry will be much better in his second appearance. He wasn’t bad in this outing. He just left his first pitch up. He won’t ever do that again. I look forward to his second appearance.

Lol, 1 pitch. How many times you see an elite closer taken out after one pitch?

He's not an elite closer, he's a freshman, and he hung a gift to Tenn over the plate. It was the right decision. You can't leave him in to see what he's going to do beyond that. The guy is not a natural closer. He's only a pitcher for LSU due to injuries. Sometimes the scene is too big for a freshman and that pitch was not good at all. They sat on it and they blasted it.

CJJ is all about match ups & bringing in Copp gave him a lefty vs lefty. Can almost guarantee that was behind the move, as CJJ talks about match ups all the time.

He wasn’t taken out because of 1 pitch. Jay went with the lefty vs lefty matchup with a guy that’s been good lately. They had just cut it to 2 runs in a must win.

Y’all missing point. He’s been very good to close games since he got inserted in that role. He threw one pitch meaning there is a lot of uncertainty on how he would have done after that. Jay made a ballz move and Guidry will be needed to win the whole thing.

Good point. But if Guidry gets him out does he still make that move?

Probably not because it’s still 5-1, but maybe.
