Technology will eventually get to the point where we can successfully capture or generate energy in an efficient and clean way to power our planet. Be it wind, solar, fusion, geothermal, hydro, etc. I think we can all agree on that.

The problem is we aren't close yet and trying to go cold turkey off fossil fuels is idiotic.

This has always been my stance. Technology wins in the end. Forcing it doesn't work. The idiots make these grand predictions about the future as if the current state never changes. There will be energy sources and new technologies 50 years from now that we haven't dreamed of.
