Let’s use Jobert as an example, he would probably be player of the year in the southland last year and get drafted but instead he didn’t play everyday and showed tha he doesn’t hit good pitching consistently. Leave some doubt and hit well in southland he would have been drafted

You are using a position player vs pitcher. It is different situations, however if Jobert would have been interested enough to talk to teams and put a lower price point on himself then he could have gotten drafted. He valued coming back to play another year over just getting drafted and not getting paid much.

Of course these guys in the southland could get drafted if they are the very best in the conference, but the main goal is to maximize personal draft value and then make it to the MLB. Best chance to reach those goals is to prove yourself playing the best competition.
