Best opportunity for himself may be to stay where he is. Pitchers get drafted pretty early out of the southland every year if he continues to be the best pitcher in the conference he will get drafted if he leaves and doesn’t pitch or doesn’t pitch well in SEC every week then what?

Then he still gets drafted off the potential of what he could be with his stuff. If he goes to SEC and proves he can pitch well that is 1st round potential. The risk would be staying behind in the southland and getting injured then not having the opportunity.
For example, look at Christian Little's draft rankings. That is based on potential. The body type and the arm is there and MLB teams will bet they can develop.
