Grant Rogers at McNeese

6'7" 230.

Watched him pitch a bunch this year.

Awesome.

Great kid too. First one out of dugout to great the team on inning changes. Walks around with a grin like a little kid living the dream. Fun to watch.

That said I believe he's draft eligible and I'm not sure he would not make a jump.

I would be shocked if he's pitching in college next year.

Does anyone know anything about Brett Sanchez from Bellhaven? He's originally from Slidell. He's currently one of the top strikeout guys in the Northwoods League. He has a COVID year left and has pitched almost 400 innings in his college career with good K/BB numbers.

Bump this and let’s talk about it later. frick the morons down voting because they don’t like the narrative. This info came from someone that knows more than you or I about the situation. The kid is an LSU fan so if/when he leaves he should be all LSU. Meanwhile, I hope LSU hangs 20 on Tennessee.

Best opportunity for himself may be to stay where he is. Pitchers get drafted pretty early out of the southland every year if he continues to be the best pitcher in the conference he will get drafted if he leaves and doesn’t pitch or doesn’t pitch well in SEC every week then what?

Then he still gets drafted off the potential of what he could be with his stuff. If he goes to SEC and proves he can pitch well that is 1st round potential. The risk would be staying behind in the southland and getting injured then not having the opportunity.

For example, look at Christian Little's draft rankings. That is based on potential. The body type and the arm is there and MLB teams will bet they can develop.

What I’m saying is the athlete owes it to the school, not the coach, because it’s their resources and monies being used up to get that scholarship and whatever it takes for that kid to get to campus. It called paying your dues. Anything without a structure goes bad.

Scholarships are 1 year agreements. He’s fulfilled his obligations.

Let’s use Jobert as an example, he would probably be player of the year in the southland last year and get drafted but instead he didn’t play everyday and showed tha he doesn’t hit good pitching consistently. Leave some doubt and hit well in southland he would have been drafted

You are using a position player vs pitcher. It is different situations, however if Jobert would have been interested enough to talk to teams and put a lower price point on himself then he could have gotten drafted. He valued coming back to play another year over just getting drafted and not getting paid much.

Of course these guys in the southland could get drafted if they are the very best in the conference, but the main goal is to maximize personal draft value and then make it to the MLB. Best chance to reach those goals is to prove yourself playing the best competition.

How does this make any sense? If Jay doesn't think he is SEC ready right now, his plan of action is to have him remain on a team that won't play SEC level talent? But in a year, under the same coaching staff, he will be SEC ready? If Jay thinks he will be SEC ready in a year, don't you think he would want him on his staff already so he can have SEC coaching every single day? I'm not arguing whether or not he will/will not transfer, but this reason for not going to an SEC team this off season doesn't make any sense at all.
