I’ve been told he will stay one more year to work on the off speed stuff and isn’t considered ready for SEC level competition. This is from someone lose to both programs.

Man I’d love to see a St Amant kid playing baseball for LSU.

It’s been too long

He's listed at 5'9" 160 and is going into in his 5th year in college.

While his stats were fine, they were fine against D3 guys. And he didn't even average a strike out an inning. Normally guys that look to make the jump from D3 to D1 have much higher K numbers, indicating either a higher quality of stuff or a higher velo.

Does he have either of those things?

I was told by a few guys in their athletic department that they’ve heard he wants to come to LSU.

I can see that point as well and appreciate it, I just feel like these schools did their part and recruited a kid and he/she became great/ good after a year of growth in “their” program they should get the player with a commitment for 2 seasons before a transfer can be made.

Shouldn’t have to base all their successes off of kids who don’t make it at BigFish schools. Not fair.

Lsu and Nichols should treat this like a portal trade
Send them players that can help them and vice versa

Grant Rogers at McNeese, from Groves (Port Arthur) is another arm that could at least help the pen. But he only has 1 year left I believe.

My uncle is a coach there, they pump out some talent.

If I were his coach, I would tell him to jump at the opportunity. It may not come around again.

This. If you’re too loyal to your program, the bigger ones may assume there’s a reason you haven’t went anywhere

No one else thinks college sports sucks now that the mid major schools are just the minor leagues now?

Man it’s tough sledding for these small schools now. Soon as a player comes to form another big fish swallows them up while small school is left in the dust. Look I’m ok with people getting a chance to better their opportunities I. Life but there really needs to be a level of commitment to a program and I say that number is 2 years. After that do what you will.

I understand what you are saying but his coach would leave for a better job in a heartbeat and LSU will have players that won’t be welcomed back next year so smaller schools can pick up those. Being a good coach or even boss he should want what’s best for him.

I think state would disagree about his coach “leaving in a heartbeat “

Forget the coach for minute here. What I’m saying is the athlete owes it to the school, not the coach, because it’s their resources and monies being used up to get that scholarship and whatever it takes for that kid to get to campus.
It called paying your dues. Anything without a structure goes bad.
Look at our country right now for example as to what happens with no structure.
I’ll head to the other board for that discussion though.
