From South Louisiana I’d drive vs fly. Time wise it is a huge difference but west and tear more so.

Can’t help with lodging I have cousins in Omaha and last time I went my son also lived there.

There are several good steak houses and Italian restaurants in Omaha - trust high star/high count yelp reviews.

A few of my go tos are:

Mahogany prime
Sullivan
801 Chop House
Spezia
Biaggis

The zoo is absolutely worth a visit. If you have a car and are into planes/military stuff the SAC museum out toward Lincoln is awesome as well.

I’m racking my brain trying to remember the ice cream shop that everyone loves and can’t remember it but it’s a landmark as well.

Coneflower Creamery

However Dairy Chef in Elkhorn is also a favorite of locals. The tower is 2 feet of soft serve.
