US military offers legal migrants path to citizenship amid recruiting shortfall

Bidari, who heads to basic training in August, is just the latest in a growing number of legal migrants enlisting in the US military as it more aggressively seeks out immigrants, offering a fast track to citizenship to those who sign up.
Struggling to overcome recruiting shortfalls, the Army and the Air Force have bolstered their marketing to entice legal residents to enlist, putting out pamphlets, working social media and broadening their outreach, particularly in inner cities.

The Marine Corp is the only service on pace to meet its goal. The shortfalls have led to a wide range of new recruiting programs, ad campaigns and other incentives to help the services compete with often higher-paying, less risky jobs in the private sector.

In addition, they say that little more than 20% meet the physical, mental and character requirements to join.
“We have large populations of legal US residents who are exceptionally patriotic, they’re exceptionally grateful for the opportunities that this country has provided,” said Air Force Maj. Gen. Ed Thomas, head of the service’s recruiting command

I wonder why their gay pride and transgender advertising isn't helping

Sure. It worked out well for Rome.

I have no issue with this

I thought this has always been the case. I had a buddy who was a marine who joined to get citizenship like 12 years ago.

Let’s go ahead and offer illegals too. One to one, one soldier you get one citizenship.

Insert Starship Troopers gif of a facist goverment advertising service guarantees citizenship.

I support 100%. If people want to come here and are willing to serve and sacrifice. They deserve our citizenship and our respect. They and their children will likely love the best things about what makes America great.

Legal migrants could always enlist to get citizenship faster.

No problem with legal immigrants but I draw the line at illegals.

For real though, our upcoming generation are lazy, selfish, entitled children, displaying little potential for growing into responsible, functional adults… I suspect we are going to continue to see domestic labor/recruiting shortfalls in key institutions like the military. We need to be better at developing adults in this country, or we’ll continue to be forced to pursue immigrant substitutes.

This has always been the case. My BIL did it, I naturalized my wife when I was in.
Also was a recruiter and had to translate foreign birth certs for enlistment.

This has always been the case. It is in trouble from what it once was thought. We used to have enlistment met for greater than 410 days, now they’re nowhere near that.

Less than that, especially with new medical program called genesis that pulls all med records, unlike in the past you only had to pull what was disclosed. Roughly 1% of the current population has served, recruiters screen to disqualify.

It's like the administration gets it's very ideas from History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire Volume 1-6

I’m cool with this. Make them earn their freedom

We are going to be Mexico soon, then China, so it makes sense.
