Liftmaster La400 works well. The power is actually from two 12 volt batteries in the control box that can be charged either through solar panel or wire hook up. I ran a direct burial cable about 850 ft from my nearest plug to power mine. Ended up coming back and running it through pvc conduit because gophers I think chewed it. There is a voltage regulator plug that controls the charge. If you go that route, keep an extra regulator on hand because they go out about once a year. My neighbor used the solar and it worked well.
