Golf greens that are built to USGA spec are 10-12" sand with a peat or profile product mix either 90/10 or 80/20 mix. California style greens are straight sand. this provides a firm base that drains well. I water greens every other night as well as every other part of my golf course. I rotate greens / tees / fairways one night and green surrounds and Rough the next. in drought times we may kick it up to a 2-3 night in a row on greens based on how they are holding up. We drag hose for hotspots where needed. An no we don't dump 40lbs/ sqft of chemicals to keep them alive. We are sustaianable and environmental concious of our surrounds. and 90% of the new "chemicals" have low use rates and reduce leaching potential.

Appreciate your expertise. So it sounds like to get things growing more , we do in fact need to be watering more than the conventional once a week.. Correct?
