Feels like 20 years ago, Turner dominated everywhere in Louisiana.

Now all I hear is them losing contracts.

Just curious, who's holding the contracts at your plant or the plants you worked at?

Mechanical (Pipefitting, Boilermaking, Welding)
Electrical
SIPA (Scaffolding, Insulation)

Just maintenance, not turnarounds.

This isn't what your boss meant by developing business contacts.

We use Excel for shipping. Maintenance is plant employed.

Brown and Root took over the contract at the plant before I retired. Turner had been there for a long time

You are hearing wrong. Have they lost a couple here and there? Yeah. But they aren't losing contracts left and right like you are implying.

I still see a lot of turner dudes around. I audit safe work permits and I see a lot of turner.

If something ever happened to Turner Industries, who would all the baws from New Roads work for?

Back when I was in the business it was

Maintenance- Turner
Mechanical, depended on turnaround type, etc, but Turner always got a piece. Wyatt, SWAT, Repcon.

Scaffolding was generally Brand, with some Excel.

I don't think it really matters, you're getting the same group of baws no matter what name they working for.

When Turner got replaced by Zachry at BASF, all the turner baws just got hired by zachry. they pretty much just got new FRC over the weekend.

Turner dominates the maintenance contracts. Brown and Root is squeezing some out of them. It’s only a fraction of the work Turner has.
On the Turnaround end. It’s pretty divided up between the turnaround companies. B&R , SWS , SWAT , TWS and few other companies.
So basically nothing has changed much.

Turner, Jacob Field Service, Brown & Root, ISC, etc. Many times the name changes, the men, change hard hats and FRC’s.

the lowest bidder willing to give kickbacks and favors to the bosses for getting the contracts

thats how its always been done

company names change and a handful get shuffled around, but its not a very big group to select from just like with security services or specialty contractors
