One part you missed was the Rory really didn’t like that people have described this as the PGA merging with LIV. He wants people to understand that LIV and the PIF are completely different entities. It’s how he’s rationalizing his hatred for one and accepting money from the other. And he wants everyone else to rationalize it that way as well. Kinda feel bad for him.

They are completely different. The PIF did this deal with the people who run the PGA and DP World Tour. The people who run LIV Golf were not part of the discussions and found out the same time we did. That's something that way too many people in the media are missing.

I don’t think it requires much rationalization. It’s very clear to me the Saudis only used LIV to get into golf. Once they were in they got rid of LIV and merged with the PGA as quick as they could. LIV is finished as is, which is why Norman and the players have been left in the dark. Obviously the big name guys don’t give a shite. They got fat money and will be welcomed back to the PGA.
I feel bad for guys who won’t make it on the pga tour and felt like LIV was their meal ticket. Fortunately for them they got paid well.
