Just curious as they seem to be hell-bent on destroying what was once a very good hospital here.

"In all, the changes impact 157 individuals serving in a mixture of full-time, part-time and PRN roles," St. Dominic officials said in a news release. St. Dominic Behavioral Health Services will also close and will stop taking admissions after 7 a.m. Tuesday. Care and treatment for current inpatients will continue as St. Dominic works to transition the patients to other facilities. "Throughout its 77-year history, the St. Dominic's ministry has evolved to meet the everchanging needs of the community it serves with a steadfast focus on quality, safety, patient experience and stewardship," Scott Kashman, market president and CEO of St. Dominic Health Services and St. Dominic Hospital, said in a statement. "After thorough discernment and prayerful consideration, we must again adapt and evolve to preserve the ministry in the face of these economic realities and better ensure the long-term health of the organization."

If you're losing money in behavioral health you're doing something wrong.

Self-label as a ministry yet the first thing they cut are those who need grace the most. They need to stop allowing hospitals to call themselves churches

The nuns at the system level seem to alienate the good people that can run the system well. They don't give their CEOs at various campuses the latitude to make strategic decisions when needed.
They let Ochsner move faster and steal market share over last 15 years. Instead, they built a huge children's hospital in BR and let Ochsner grab everything else statewide.
When Jindal closed/divested state hospitals, they attracted the "unprofitable" types of patients and their insurance payor mix skewed too public (vs private) to stay profitable.
hope that sheds light on it without getting in the weeds

A non-tax paying hospital should have no problem making money. Simple mismanagement. If its in a no-profit location you close it down.

Admin makes dumbass decisions at every hospital I have experience with. FMOL is not different.
Staffing is still being increased in my area at every hospital so most places are cutting fat and not patient care. There are still tons of contract employees all over the hospitals, nurses not so much right now but other allied health positions there are tons.
