There’s some serious cognitive dissonance at the end of this game 
the crescendo is here. Our team has met and we know what we have to do save the world. Sike! 14 side quest just popped up for you lounge around doing. Oh and if you wanna hunt some monsters there’s like 10-13 depending on how many you’ve done so far. Neither are exaggerated lol.
I guess the story does contextualize most of them somewhat as character arc side quest peaking before the final chapter, you helping out towns where your allies from most of the game being under attacks but some are absolutely comical
