Ran a topic search here but no results…

WiFi in the house is great, all other tvs in the house stream from apps perfectly (Hulu, Netflix etc). They are Samsung and new units

The game room TV is a Sony I got around 2017. SmartTV as well with the same apps, but the streaming is constantly lagging or picture quality sucks. As mentioned WiFi through the house isn’t an issue. I was thinking it may be the fact the tv is dated/processing power isn’t great. Thought Apple TV unit might improve it vs buying a new tv (seems crazy for a new tv to be the answer)

Any thoughts or similar experiences that improved your situation?

Is it always bad, or is it intermittent?

I've had mine almost a year. It's lagging every now and then. I also have used up most memory with the few apps I downloaded, which is annoying. Probably a direct correlation between the two.

On pretty much any device, from phones to computers to TVs, if you fill up the storage, everything will slow down. I won't bore you with the why of it, but the punch line is that information on the drive isn't stored all together and leaving all the empty space together, so when it's so full that new data can't be dropped into an already empty space that's big enough, the drive has to take time to move things around to create a space big enough. That process is fairly slow, relatively speaking. It's something people will notice as lag or stuttering.

Have the same problem with mine. (same year as well) Have to unplug the TV for a minute at least once a month or, if that doesn't work I have to "factory reset" the TV. (I do this about once a year)

It's the smart function interface firmware. I've done extensive research on this and the above is the only thing that works for us.

Or add a firestick, et al to it and don't use the internal smart system.

Good luck!
