In the Pinwheel Galaxy, aka M-101, a star went supernova late last week. This galaxy is only 21M light-years from Earth, and this supernova (designated SN2023ixf) is the closest to Earth since SN1987, which occurred in the Large Magellanic Cloud, only about 168,000 light-years distant.

Fun fact.

If a supernova occurred within 5 light years of Earth, it would wipe out life on earth instantly.

Technically, it went supernova 168,000 years ago.

Or 21 years ago...

Either way, germans.

We'd all be dead if it was only 21 light years away.

I would like to see a Supernova star so close to us that we can see it at noon on a sunny day.

So it blew up 168,000 years ago and we’re just now finding out about it. That star must have connections to the Clintons and Bidens.
