Some sort of hot breakfast item. Just make sure it’s good. I have seen many fisherman make stops on the way to the launch with they deciding factor being who had a good breakfast.

A few suggestions:

-Hot boudin links
-Breakfast sandwiches with biscuits or croissants
-Breakfast in a cup

I'm trying really hard to stay out of the food service business because of all the additional regulatory stuff and overhead of it. Also, this particular spot wouldn't need to have a "great biscuit" to get people in the door. It would be the only bait shop within 20 miles, right next to a very popular lake. If I did biscuits, it would be the frozen kind from a vendor that the customer would heat up in a microwave.

I was in a bait shop today that has goldfish. Big ones. I have seen them sold in the past as crappie bait but these were way too big for crappie bait. I figured bass bait. What makes catfish like goldfish so much, as opposed to just regular minnows?

Regarding pre-packaged stink baits- never in my life have I actually caught a catfish on a stink bait, and it's not from a lack of trying. I've caught plenty on worms, crickets, minnows, cut bait, and even lures, but never on "catfish bait".

Was in a bait shop yesterday, and was looking around, and it reminded me of this thread. Everything here was pretty much represented, but I did see a display of assorted fuses, both the bladed and straight fuses, and thought that might come in handy in a bind

Bragging board. Not enough bait shops with bragging boards these days. Nothing fancy...ply wood and 2x4 frame with a plexiglass door to protect from the elements.

A good selection of SpotSticker Spinnerbaits.

I kid

2 stroke Oil, hats and T-shirts sell great everywhere. I would also have a couple lines of sunglasses. One cheap, one not so cheap. Lots of terminal tackle....

Night crawlers and pink worms.

Rooster tails. Panther Martins.

Cane poles hanging from overhead (real ones, not the packaged kind that can be taken apart).

Some spin cast combos (zebco 202 type).

Now I have to try this. I am going with original though. I don't think Cool Ranch and sardines works. Talk about shite breath. I think original might work though. Did your friends name happen to be Gordon Ramsey?
