Good friend from college. He had it all. Great job and very successful. Made a ton of money. Big house in best area of his city. Married with two college aged kids. But he could never quit drinking even as he went into liver failure, lost his job, got divorced and was essentially homeless. His friends got him into rehab a few times and many tried to help him. In the end, he got some money from a new job, bought booze, and bled out alone in a hotel room in his early 50s. The feeling at his funeral from his family was relief. Quite sad.
