The NBA didn’t create the WNBA as a charity case or for the good PR. The WNBA gets more women interested in basketball which brings more viewers to the NBA and makes them more money.

Read that Boston, the #1 draft pick from S. Carolina, signed for a whopping $75K. Which is why the Bayou Barbie has said that she is "no rush" to go to the WNBA. An unnamed WNBA main office staffer has reportedly complained that the league does not get the support they expect from females. Rather, data reveals that the average regular fan is a white male of varying age. But, FWIW, LSU & most major female programs use college males to practice against; i.e. it's a common practice. No clue as to how they are paid but assuming they are.
