Yeah he was a CIA contractor, not an actually agent, my dad called anyone associated with the CIA/NSA/DOD or any alphabet agency a spook, just like anyone associated with the mob a gangster, where any actual mobster a made man, or CIA agent, an agency man or a spy.

The best book on a lot of this is really Barry and the Boys, if you can find a copy, (someone bought up 95% of them )

It doesn’t deal with the assassination, but has enough information in there about how the intelligence services were acting for you to be able to put it together.

How did he ever get that close?

You have to remember a few things. Jack Ruby was a nightclub owner in Dallas and was well known by the cops. He was very cop friendly and kept food and drink in his back room for on duty cops (plus other things if you catch my drift). He was not out of place standing in the basement of the Dallas county jail or anywhere else that Oswald was.

Remember this was 1963. Oswald was brought out to speak to the press before even being arraigned. This would never happen today. Ruby was also visible at that press conference.

In the end he may have been sent to kill Oswald, who knows. But I don’t think you can assume that just based on his ability to get close to him.

I have met judyth on multiple occasions. shes actually from Florida and was relocated here by thr government to do "research."

There are a number of holdovers from that era still kicking. I’m lucky to have met many of them.
If you want to learn about someone reallllly interesting, google Pierre Lafitte (real name unknown), the Corsican criminal hired on at Clay Shaws WTCNO to be the Plimsoll clubs manager.

I believe he mishandled the exploding cigar or something for an attempted Castro assassination, and became a liability

Not possible. Oswald loved and adored Castro. He was a communist sympathizer having lived in Russia and he tried to emigrate to Cuba but his visa was denied. Never would have been involved in an assassination attempt on Castro.

Yes and no, depending on the topic. People like that are pretty paranoid and some of her claims strained credulity. Her LHO relationship stuff I believe, but when she goes beyond that into broader conspiracies, no.

I would say he was more of an “asset” rather contractor but you’re right he was not an agent. He was kind of a useful idiot for the cia and the goon squad in New Orleans.

I knew a guy who passed away not too long ago that worked with Garrison in the DA's office when all of this shite was going down. He never revealed anything too telling, but he was convinced there was a lot more to Oswald than meets the eye. Maybe not necessarily a full-on spook, but a "useful idiot" for the CIA. He was absolutely convinced that the Kennedy assassination was a CIA plot.

EDIT: Damn, Reg. We posted at the same time. Maybe we knew the same guy.

can someone define spook to clarify things..?

Generally a slang term for a CIA operative but could be any government agency employee involved in intelligence/espionage.

Didn't realize my Dad thought all black people worked at the CIA

My grandfather always said he was a fool and a schmuck. Not a spy but someone who was easily manipulated. When the news came out that he pulled the trigger,no one in NOPD believed it, and he was known to them. The old guys said he worked for a guy named Guy Bannister who was ex FBI and was working as a PI out of an office on Camp Street. They all knew Bannister because he used to be a cop. Oswald did not impress them as capable of doing anything on his own. Now, Bannister was different story....he had a real shady side.

Oswald’s staged arrest happened right outside of Bannisters office. What a coincidence . He was also in the air patrol with Bannisters buddy David Ferrie (who later mysteriously died right after Garrisons investigation would public). What a coincidence.

Know a lady that was around Oswald. Perhaps she was the significant other to some professor? Can’t remember. She never embellished about it, just said they’d met a few times. Compare it to being invited to a crawfish boil and Derrick Todd Lee was there.

Ha! Not the same guy, as my main local source is still with us fortunately, but a lot of this stuff was just out in the open back then. Clay Shaw was a big time socialite. His crew wasn’t very discreet with their activities. I’m sure who you knew was well acquainted with who I know/have met.
