Idk, you’d have to ask Crews.

Baseball is a mental game. You wouldn’t think something like would make a difference, but sometimes it does.

With that being said, Crews is having an unbelievable year hitting exclusively in the 2 and 3 spots, so I can see all of your points.

But Crews has said he is more comfortable and likes hitting leadoff. That’s not my opinion, that’s a fact.

Tanks has to hit behind crews no matter what. So if crews is leadoff then tanks is 2nd. And thats just dumb

Why is that dumb?

Leave it alone... BUT retrain or replace the Base Coaches. Enough of guys making 2nd to third on a double, or being picked off first and second for daydreaming. A first base coach that says "get back here" after a pitch and a third base coach that actually watches the flight of the ball.

LSU Season Statistics 2023

Hard to argue Crews should hit leadoff when he’s leading the team in Slugging % (.814). Also hard to argue that Morgan should hit in the 3 or 4 when he’s slugging .494.

I’ll leave it alone for now. But just know that I will bump the shite out of this thread if Crews gets moved to the leadoff spot.

The most change we should consider is just moving dugas down and having our 234 become 123, but truthfully, dugas has a high OBP. That’s what matters most for lead off.

I agree with you on Dugas’ OBP. But Crews’ OBP is higher. A lot higher.

And put space between he and White, and have up to bat with no one on base at least 11% of the time? Without space it would give White potentially only 1 guy on base when Crews leads off. Those guys need to have potential multiple runs on base EVERY time at bat.

Crews has to hit in spots with people on base and that is not leadoff . Team average drops about 20 points when you remove Crews.

He was just unlucky last night

Hence why Tanks is leading the nation in RBIs. Your OBP argument is valid, but given the fact that he slugs I think he serves us better behind Dugas or Dugas/Morgan

Which is why I suggested Bear staying in the 9 hole with Crews and Tanks 1 and 2.

OBPs:
Bear - .451
Morgan - .447
Dugas - .482

Not a huge difference in those 3

And look, I’m not trying to argue. I’m just trying to make a case that Crews hitting leadoff isn’t as stupid as most of you think it is.

Heck no bro... I looks like a few of our guys are slumping atm which would be more of a mental thing. It's almost like they just needed to lose a game to get fired up going forward or something like that.

Adversity is a good thing.

If I would change anything it would be to play Kling a bit more but I am just a foolish coonass and CJJ is a boss of a coach.

Wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction. I acknowledged it was only a 2-game “slump” and was just asking a hypothetical question if he would continue to slump. He should stay in the 3-hole for now, but I just wouldn’t be opposed to trying him at leadoff if he continues to struggle a little bit.
But you are suggesting moving him up in the lineup due to him struggling. It makes no fricking sense in the context of your argument here.

Absolutely not. You’re not messing with top part of lineup. We lead the nation in almost every major hitting category. Offense is the least of our worries right now

I never suggested anything. It was always just a hypothetical question for purposes of discussion.

The lack of reading comprehension in this thread is mind boggling, yet I’m the one being called an idiot. Pretty ironic.

All good, I’m done with this thread.
