And I’m not pointing to guns being the sole issue. The gun violence problem here is the convergence of multiple factors - poor crime enforcement/punishment, mental health, economic woes, easy access to guns, etc. All of those factors should be on the table for targeting when the debate comes up.

The truth is that, for people like you, no regulation besides the outright banning of guns will ever be enough.
Now, if you get your way, how do you plan on confiscating 400 million guns? Do you think criminals will turn theirs in? What happens when law abiding people comply and criminals don't?

There are thousands upon thousands of pages of federal and state code regulating firearms in this country.
What specific laws do you want to see enacted and tell us how that will prevent gun crime.

What law or regulation would stop a 18-21 year old with a clean record from walking into a store and buying a gun?
It’s very easy to play the vague “gun regulation” card with no specifics. The fact is that any attempt to chip away at the 2A has the intent to remove them completely.

The New Orleans judicial system is a perfect example. Anyone at NOPD will tell you that the problem is that judges don't enforce gun laws.
These people's solution is to enact more laws that judges will refuse to enforce.

There’s a very well proven process that takes place with laws and regulations. It is called Legal Creep you should look into it.
Laws eventually get used for all sorts of things that the writers never intended. (See the Patriot Act or the initial Civil Asset Forfeiture laws)
Hell, I’m old enough to remember when gays just wanted to get married, yet look at us now.
Point is, what you consider “slightly tighter” right now may be very different 15 years from now.

Again, I ask, how do we focus attention on the groups that commit the vast majority of gun crimes?
