I think Merrin living on with Kata dealing with Cals death leading into the true rebellion with episode 4 could be a solid ending. I just dont see any way around Cal having to die.

I know of one..

People actually like Cal for the most part, and want to see more. But,..star wars since 1999 has only made 40% of the true potential it could've if done right. So..no faith.
