He made it sound like they were between Breese and another player that he would not name. He wouldn’t say who it was (probably still available) but said something along the lines of “it was a position that y’all probably would’ve yelled at us for taking.”

Could mean a few different positions, but makes me think it was either a QB, RB, or interior olineman. Just thought it was interesting, may have been a potential melt avoided.

I'm not convinced they won't at least consider Levis at 40 if he's there.

Could have been a center from Wisconsin.

Brian Branch?

I think most people are on board with a guard.

only thing that makes sense would be RB

anything else in 1st round would not cause much a stir

i couldnt see them being stupid enough to even have a QB in consideration to pick

Tight end would've made me yell. We have Trautman (excellent blocker) and Juwan Johnson (pass catcher). We desperately need front 7 players on both sides of the ball.

I think they were set to pick Myles Murphy before Cincinatti
took him. I was surprised to see him fall as far as he did

It would have to be QB or OL.

QB obviously because they just signed Carr.

OL because they have taken an OL in the first round (or with their first pick of the draft - McCoy in 2nd round) in 3 of the last 4 years. Fans/media rarely get excited about an OL pick

The Saints recruited Carr pretty hard, so I don't think they are going to piss him off by drafting his possible replacement before he even plays a snap. That's why I think the other guy was an OL...probably Torrance

QB or T are the only positions I could see people being upset if we drafted instead and honestly QB is questionable. I personally don't have strong opinion on Carr one way or the other so if they thought a QB was capable of possibly supplanting him in the near future, take your shot. Only reason I would have an issue with T is because we just took Penning last season and Ram is top tier. I guess RB also only because the top 2 were gone already but if either fell, I wouldn't have melted.

Hadn't seen anyone address this yet, but how weak minded of a HC can you be if this actually plays in your decision-making process during the draft?

It was for Levis or Hooker. That’s obvious. If either fall to 40 I wouldn’t be mad at them taking their shot. If Carr lights it up for us and we have a rookie pushing him too then you can trace Carr or the young QB for a nice haul of draft picks. We are paying Carr mid tier QB money so if he plays good QB needy teams would happily take his contract on in a trade.

Lol. These are Saints fans were talking about. Melt is in their blood. Regardless.

I hate that DA is so weak that he possibly made a decision based on what fans might say.

And I think Bresee was the right pick.
