HVAC prices are overly inflated right now mostly due to Covid causing the parts demand. It’s a bubble that’s going to pop.
Without knowing more details OP it’s hard to say but it seems way over priced yes. Do you have electrical to the outside unit? That shouldn’t be very expensive maybe $500-1000? But still.
