That is interesting for sure. I’ve heard Ben talk about how he suspects that changes were made to the ball this year.
No way to know this but wonder what the difference of exit velo would be now compared to bats in 2009.
But the HR rate is a big difference. Better batting avg against but a good margin in 2023 vs 2009. Yet ERA is higher in 2023. But I think we can all agree the SEC is much better now than compared to 2009.

It looks like whatever changes were made happened last year, at least when it comes to HR rate. That said, there’s clearly been a big jump in offense overall in the SEC going from last year to this, so it’s about more than just the HRs.
