Shell has started providing electricity in tWoodlands geared towards EV owners ("free" from midnight to 3am; $/kWh is fairly reasonable compared to Centerpoint). I just schedule my car to start charging at midnight and it's worked out pretty well.
And similar to others ITT, the EV is our commuter car and we keep an ICE on the side for road trips.
