Ultimately the students determine the quality of the school
Before I had a kid I was hardcore my kids going to public school and my kid will ride the bus like I did. My argument was always I did it and I turned out ok.

My wife and I make good money, we filled out the paperwork for pre school and they told us our kid would not be accepted. This was because we made too much money and preschool is not required.

After that I said well frick em they just lost two parents who would’ve been involved in the school.

Point of my short story is if public schools keep losing good parents because of this they will soon stop circling the toilet and be flushed.

Similar experience. Applied to the EBR magnet program. The lottery application asked if we would qualify for free/reduced lunch & I checked no. Low & behold my kid didn’t even get called in for testing, just waitlisted. So we went the private route.

EBR just passed the 4 renewals for EBR schools. Looking at my property tax bill & a third of it already goes to EBR schools. What have they shown in the last 10 years to justify those renewals? Any progress has been ruined by them prolonging the Covid antics.
