I mean I just want to really iterate the point

Imagine having a beer with tiger, maybe some coke and a skank waitress in there too

And remember, this is a man that has become a billionaire and one of the most accomplished athletes of all time

And then with a straight face try to tell him the 50s is the best decade, a time in which he wouldn’t have been allowed to accomplish any of the above simply because of his skin color.

Woke culture and victimhood is nauseating, but the above is a legit, vey legit grievance to have

Well now sure as Hell is better for communists. They control one political party.

The tricky part was you only needed to be accused of being a communist. It was the "me too" movement of the time.

I don’t know. Growing up in the 90s was pretty awesome. Gas was cheap, sports was awesome, LSU baseball dominated, the music was incredible, and you could still go out and do stupid shite and get away with it because we were still a few years away from social media.

Even things like CEO pay were different back then. The wage differential was much lower. Society was becoming prosperous, and the prosperity was being shared across the board. It was a much more compassionate style of capitalism. You could go to work at standard oil or Dupont or General Electric straight out of high school and still be able to afford to send your kid to college.

Overlap in the 50s. Those two spanned parts of two decades.

We then went on a long expansion until around 1973 when the wheels fell off and the "Big inflation" was in earnest.

People blame social media but I think the internet has been overall a net negative. Sure you act cool and watch Netflix while having sushi delivered to you. But if you look at our social structure pre internet and today, it’s day and night. We used to have real community neighborhoods where people talk to one another. Now every household keeps to themselves. And communities people get involved are online communities. While there are common interests, the depth of online relationships are paper thin deep. Also, You had to call and meet people to talk to them. Now, it’s FaceTime and text. While convenient, it’s not how we are programmed to communicate to one another. The daring game is a mess. And social media has amplified individual’s ego and self importance. Everyone is the goat. Do we value humbleness anymore? No such thing as free speech online. You have to be careful what you say because you know there are millions of eyes watching and waiting for you to slip up and cancel you. And this behavior/culture and manifest in real life. Did people worry about what they say 20-30 years ago?

But we can’t stop technology because we have to adapt to it instead of the other way around. Either adapt or we’ll get left behind. I just miss life when things were simpler and made sense.

Yep

Back in the day you could walk off the high school graduation stage across the street to the factory or coal mine, give the boss man a firm handshake and they’d hire you on the spot and give you a great career

You’d do your 8 hour shift and go get drunk with your boys at the bowling alley then hop in your 3k studebaker and go home to your 20k 3 story house and eat a nice home cooked meal that your not fat wife made

America was a paradise until the boomers voted against it and made it a woke shithole 3rd world country

It actually was. I finished high school in 1956, at a small town in North Alabama. There were 96 of us in my senior class; very few of us are still alive.

Everything you loved about the 50’s & 60’s was because of white people. Everything you love today about New Orleans is because of black people.

The inevitable pendulum swing of overreaching. It is why a measured, rational approach always trumps an emotional reactionary one.

I would say the 90s as well, the economy was rocking, and socially we were where we need to be

Everyone had freedom of opportunity regardless of creed or skin color or anything else, but mental illnesses like trans and such were still looked down upon and not celebrated

Dads did not coach youth sports and parents did not attend games. Kids were cut from baseball, basketball, football and it did not result in intervention by parents, clergy or medical folks.

I got ten licks with a paddle for chewing gum in class, second offense. Glad my dad did not find out.

I'm sure beating kids as punishment was awesome and turned them into well adjusted, functioning members of society.

Why was beating kids as a form of punishment every normalized?

I'm sure it was a lovely time if you were lucky to be in the upper classes and white.

Things were more equal back then

Back then everybody had like 5 choices of car and the rich plant operator drove the same 3k car that the poor man drove

Nowadays plant operators have to drive 5 year old Toyotas and f150s and poor people drive brand new Escalades and chargers

Actually tiger woods couldn’t have been born in the 50s because his dad banged a Vietnamese woman and the Vietnam war didn’t start til the 60s
