Oh you mean like Ubisoft and Xdefiant ?
They have IPs that they could use to compete if they actually dedicated resources to them. But they’ve all played like shite in the past.
SOCOM
MAG
Killzone
Resistance
None of those are arcade shooters, though. “But this was never about CoD. It was about mobile gaming and an App Store where we’re gonna ask our competitors to host it for us. And if they don’t let us, we’re gonna lobby Congress to force them like they did in the EU.”

It's only about COD from Sony's perspective. The FTC failed because they focused solely and completely on Call of Duty and didn't provide any evidence at all that making any other games exclusive would affect competition in a negative light. Because that was the FTC's argument, once MS testified under oath that they would keep COD on PS the FTC's entire case fell apart.

This is nonsensical. Microsoft doesn't need anyone to host anything for them. Their strategy is to use advertisements in their games that are already listed on the Google and Apple stores (plus the ABK games that are already listed) to push their new mobile gaming store. They view this as a "hole in the portfolio," as was shown during the injunction hearing. It was clearly laid out that their entire strategy for purchasing ABK was centered around mobile gaming. The other segments of ABK are also great grabs for them, but that clearly wasn't the primary purpose at all.
