Then they should not have burned his shirt for four meaningless plays against Tulane

True, this is what I do not understand. Only explanation I can come up with is the NCAA only gives a certain amount of time for the team to officaly medical redshirt a player. I think our deadline was coming up, and with Hatch out, we had to burn the shirt if something happend to Lee. Does anyone know the rules to medical redshirt?

I may be wrong, but they were claiming before the Hatch injury that Jefferson got hurt on his one play or whatever, and thus he was going to medical redshirt.

Then Hatch got hurt...

Then magically Jefferson sees four plays against Tulane.

Again, it's my understanding that there was no NEED to play him in that game in regards to the NCAA. He was on course to RS and the reason they were going to claim was injury. By putting him in this late, they lose that opportunity.

What I'm saying is that, if the ONLY way the kid was going to see significant PT was if LEE got hurt, than nothing of consequence was accomplished by playing him in the Tulane game. Jefferson STILL has no significant PT, and now has all but lost his freshman year. If they weren't planning on substituting him liberally with Lee in the Tulane and BAMA games, they could have simply let him hold a clip board and ONLY play him if Lee went down. That way he keeps a year in his pocket.

Makes no sense...

The injury has to cause you to be out the rest of the season, and the injury has to occur early in the season. Not sure about the % of the season.

Since JJ is able to play now, there is no way he would have gotten a medical redshirt. His redshirt was not burned during the tulane game.
