J. Jefferson is not seeing significant playing time simply because he does not know the playbook. Crowton's offense is one of the most complicated in the nation; therefore making it impossible for a true freshman to take the field and lead a drive. If JJ does lead a drive versus Troy...Look for the offense to be very dumbed down. Sheppard, on the other hand, and I’d be willing to bet any amount of money on this, is already somewhat familiar with our playbook. I'm sure he has a copy of the Wizard's work. Jefferson was not committed to LSU until a few days before the signing day...so he was not learning our offense while still in highschool. If you watch RS high school games, you will def. notice similarities in the offense they are running to our offense...coincidence? I think not...

Wait, you mean a QB has to know the play book before you put him into the game?
I though you just needed a good recruit and he would just figure it out on his own.

Then they should not have burned his shirt for four meaningless plays against Tulane. If he wasn't ready, he wasn't ready. He is now exactly not as ready to step in if Lee gets hurt as he was BEFORE his shirt came off...except now if he doesn't play a dwn the rest of the season he goes into '09 as a sophmore instead of a RS freshman.

I agree. If the opportunity presents itself while we're comfortably ahead, let him run more plays. I have no qualms with JJ not seeing significant time. I just want him to see some time that's not strictly to handoff.

See Daniel, Chase.

He may not be in Daniel's league, I'm just referencing what can happen with a kid that knows a style of offense and has run it for a while vs a kid that it's all brand new to.

Does he need to know the entire play book to spot Lee a couple of plays or a series? No

Also, Les admitted that Jefferson took few snaps other than basic plays and handoffs at practice and little or no 7 on 7. How do you expect him to know the plays if he does not practice them?

If Jefferson can't run 10-15 plays at this point in the season it is the coaches fault. If he does not have the mental capacity to remember 10-15 plays, it is the coaches fault for recruiting a dumb arse.
