It was the 2000 CWS off of Mark Prior

His first homer that was off of Mark Prior has a classic Hawthorne screw up where he says he hit it to left field before correcting himself.

Hawpe's 2nd homer was smoked. That thing might still be going. Hawthrone made an awesome call on the second one.

If Mark Prior was gonna be so mad he shouldn't have hung a piss poor offspeed pitch out to dry.

And to think because of a typo in the offer letter to him , offering as a pitcher, we almost got him 1 more year! they corrected that fast:

quote:

the 2000 free-agent draft, the Rockies selected Hawpe in the 11th round — as a pitcher.8 Since he had made up his mind to play as a first basemen or outfielder he almost decided to return to LSU for his senior year rather than turn pro. His signing scout, Damon Iannelli, explained to Hawpe that it was an internet mistake and that the Rockies wanted to sign him as a first baseman or outfielder, so he agreed to sign with the Rockies. 9
