Unless you are living in the hood in new orleans or a very expensive part of Houston, you are going to be paying more for Housing in NOLA than Houston.

Houston just builds way more.

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong with this statement.
There are very specific reasons why New Orleans is expensive.
1. Home ownership- crime is so bad, people pay more to
own a home in a relatively safe area.
2. Schools - public education is so bad in New Orleans,
people want to send their kids to private schools,
which are expensive.
3. Insurance Rates - I don't have to explain this to
anyone from New Orleans.
