I bought a Samsung side-by-side back in 2012. It still works but the motor to the ice maker has been an issue since very early on. Repair people have told me that the design is faulty, Samsung won't admit it, so it will just break again if you get it fixed. Evidently there is a huge class action lawsuit ongoing based on this issue. I won't be buying a Samsung again, needless to say.
Bought a pretty basic SS Kenmore at the same time for a tenant unit and have not had a single issue. Stay away from Samsung

Kenmore makes nothing, if you get the model number, look it up, it will tell you the manufacturer.
