Kansas State lost to Lamar tonight. So far, Lamar is looking like the best team we will play in the midweek this season.

this weekend's beer is the Karbach Crawford Bock. As evidenced by the unhealthy amount I drank at the Minute Made Classic last year, it's a great baseball beer.

I put it with Shiner and Yuengling class.

can't wait for people to melt when we don't touch up "Iowa's Saturday guy" even though he may be the best arm we face all year (if he keeps the walks down).

He has yet to give up a home run in 29.1 innings of post high school baseball. Hopefully Jared Jones sends one of those 100 mph fast balls about 490.

I still think his most ridiculous stat is that of the 20 outs he recorded in summer ball, 19 of them were strikeouts.

Now, he still walked guys and gave up hits and whatnot. But that's still damn impressive.

Iowa, by necessity, is a development based program. They usually succeed in 3 year cycles. Most of the Big Ten is that way. I think they're set up well close that gap and compete more on a year in, year out basis. Before last season they picked up Adam Mazur in the portal from North Dakota State or South Dakota State, I don't remember. We went after him a little bit too but he decided to stay up north. He ended up being a weekend starter and getting drafted decently well. Between the smaller northern D1 schools, the Iowa JUCOs (shoutout Ben Nippolt), and the plethora of D3 schools up there, they can combine their 3 year development plan with portal supplements and gain more consistency.

Rick Heller is a good coach and very well respected up there. He was at Northern Iowa before they shut down that program.

Skenes will throw Fri
Nothing announced for rest of weekend

I think Cooper definitely starts Sat based on his last performance
Sunday is probably Shores as that is likely the easiest opponent but he will have bullpen ready for that one

Texas will have to wait and see how many pitches are thrown by Floyd and Little and Ackenhausen
He could easily start one against Texas if he's not comfortable with Hurd after Southern performance but my guess is it will be Hurd against Horns

On another note, Jared Jones had a 1b mit on at practice, if White is back look for Morgan in LF and Jones at 1B

Chris Demouey brought up an interesting point of possibly seeing Shores on Saturday and Cooper on Sunday given the relative strength of each line up they'd face.

Really?? It’s an outstanding and appropriate commentary on the style of football that Iowa plays. Hope that helps.

Sorry, missed the earlier response to this.

It's only available through D1 Baseball. It used to be streamed on FloSports, which is an awful production company with a predatory pricing structure. But D1 secured the streaming rights with a plan to greatly improve the product and hopefully grow the audience.

ESPN did not intend to broadcast this tournament.

From what Kendall has said on this board, this could potentially expand to other pre-conference tournaments around the country beyond Round Rock and Frisco.
