A quick update.

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, I have a work issued HP Elitebook 830 G8.

I bit the bullet and got myself another 27" monitor (same size/brand) and a USB C hub.

This is the hub I went with ($50 plus tax):

The setup is plug and play with the hub (located behind the laptop) plugged into the USB C port on the laptop, two monitors to the hub via HDMI cables.

The laptop is the #2 display and I have it open to use the built in webcam.
To be clear, the displays are arranged 1, 2, 3 left to right and my mouse cursor moves across all 3 individual displays seamlessly.

Here is a pic of the setup:

Your neck will be proper fricked. I'm not kidding, as a dual monitor user for a very, long time. You have TD topic entries over three feet from the middle of screen 3.

I would suggest getting a monitor mount where you can put the centre line of monitors 1+3 directly above the centre of the laptop monitor. Another option is just stick the laptop behind both monitors and ignore the fact that it exists unless you need to unplug it. You still have a horribly wide viewing angle. Yet another option (which you won't like, since you've already splashed the cash on the monitors) is using virtual desktops on a single monitor.

It can be one thing to have Netflix or Hulu on one monitor that you can more listen to and glance at occasionally, or have a bunch of widgets, iTunes, or process monitors on your non primary monitor, but that doesn't appear to be the use case.

Look at either big monitor. Imagine yourself editing a 30 slide PowerPoint deck while having your head turned nearly 40 degrees in one direction or another while your keyboard is right in front of you.
