In fairness to the infrequent amount of today's acts dominating the charts and box office, I place alot of blame with the emergence of conglomerates like Clear Channel and iHeart Radio gobbling up radio stations and controlling the formats, and you can probably toss in MTV's format change as well. There are other factors of course, but the aforementioned things really shrunk the pipeline for artists to get to the next level...
