Bennett had 289 total yards per game compared to 271 for Daniels and that was with Daniels playing only one quarter against Southern and missing the second half against Georgia. Bennett did account for 37 TDs to 29 for Daniels, but he played an extra game (plus the parts of games Daniels missed noted above). The overall production between the two isn’t as disparate as you are making it out to be.

Are you under the impression that Bennett was playing every minute of every game? Bennett only took snaps in the 4th quarter of 8 games this year.

Stetson Bennett is exactly what LSU fans HOPE Daniels can become. Acting like they are equals, at this point, is more ignorant than acting like the offense was great this year. Bennett averaged 1.5 more yards per attempt and 75 more passings yards per game, and I don’t think you will find anyone who believes their receivers were better than LSU’s. Daniels was good as a weapon last season, but he was average as a passer. In fact, his numbers were more similar to 2009 Jordan Jefferson and 2015 Brandon Harris than they were to Bennett, as a passer.

Daniels is going into his 5th year so the moment definitely isn’t too big for him, but if he’s going to help LSU take the next step he has to be better as a passer and not just a dynamic playmaker with his legs. If he doesn’t improve, LSU will still likely have a good season and win 10 or 11 games, so it’s not like it’s the end of the world.

No matter how you slice it, Bennett wasn’t “helluva lot more productive” than Daniels. He had 18 more yards per game and played 6-8 more quarters than Daniels to account for about half of the 8 TD difference.
