I roughed up most of it with bar keepers friend, used a magic eraser, brake cleaner, degreaser with a firm bristled brush, not much progress, tried small pressure washer (the 600psi battery one my wife uses for getting the dirt stains out of my kids white baseball pants) and it did a fair job getting the loosened stuff off.

Went back with rubbing alcohol and a gift card and actually started making some head way. So I put it in a vacuum sealer bag to try and let the alcohol do some work before it evaporates, and going to bring it to the car wash and see what happens.

Update: took it to the car wash to pressure wash, lower pressure than I expected but didn’t feel like breaking out the pressure washer. The sticky reside was pretty much gone, but it looked like shite.

The areas around the grips were the worst.

Let it soak in some more rubbing alcohol for about 30 minutes, it took a little elbow grease with combo of an old tooth brush, non scratch scotch brite (blue), and an brush attachment for a drill it looks a lot better.

Calling it an afternoon now, but gonna let it fully dry for a few days and decide if I’m gonna give it another go, with rubbing alcohol and another good scrub, or hit it with a couple rattle cans and some clear coat, or bring it to get hydro dipped. So far, just used stuff around the house, but overall I have about $5 bucks in rubbing alcohol, 8 foot of quart width roll of vacuum bags, which I never use, and a couple hours of my time into getting it off, rather than spending a few hundred on a new stock. So it looks like it can be done, since Beretta isn’t willing to do anything about it.
