I don't think we see Bear at C or in the field more than maybe once per week. He can hit, though, so Jay will be looking at ways to get him in the 9.

I wonder if Jones could handle himself behind the plate well enough to start him at catcher?

I wouldn’t start him at C as a true freshman in the SEC…he’s not ready for that but he’ll play a ton this year and may very well platoon or takeover at DH

Jones along with Jobert are the front runners for DH. May be a potential platoon

Neal has been everything he’s been hyped up to be.

Does anyone know who Jones and Frey took deep?

By the time LSU goes to A&M this is going to be a sick 1-9 lineup!

Is the team hitting not that good due to our pitching got so much better or our hitting was a little over rated?

It's both. The pitching and hitting both suck. Now that you know this information, kindly GTFO and don't appear in another baseball thread. Thanks.

Hurd going 5 innings in a scrimmage is encouraging

He didn’t go 5.

Scuba has him at 4. But I was at the scrimmage and I’m pretty sure he only went 3. He was relieved by Helmers who also went 3.

But 3 is still good. 3 is where he left off at in the fall. Skenes and Floyd only went 4 on Friday. They’re still ramping slow, which is also part of the reason it is probably being talked about him as the Sunday guy. If Skenes and Floyd (or whoever goes Saturday) get their jobs done, then the bull pen will be fresh and deep on Sundays allowing them to not have to stress Hurd too early.

Jones was off of Money. Absolute laser shot.

Frey was off of Moffett. As I put on another board and to steal Jay’s phrase, it was “light tower power” on his. From the stands, ball looked like it arced as high as the light pole in LF and then came down almost right by the pole in the bleachers.

Hitting not that good? Did you see the number of hits? They scored 23 runs combined

Thompson still hitles

Man I hope he gets off to a hot start because he's not gonna have an opportunity to play out of a slump with the majority of fans. He seems like a great kid. I hope he can bring it all together. He's been great in spurts.

Not a problem. You have a lot going on and can be tough when they’re all on the same team wearing same uniforms.

Plus when I went sat with you at the end I saw the little rug rats you were having to deal with. LOL

Honestly that is something I didn’t pay a ton of attention to. I remember looking a few times on his FB and noticed around 91 or 92 it seems. But from what I vaguely recall, I feel like that’s what he was around more consistently in the fall too; but I wouldn’t swear to that.

Unless Wes can get him right and going, I feel like he’s only going to be good for maybe an inning of relief at most. Tends to look pretty good for 1 and then starts getting hit around after that.

Looking at Jacques video, Hurd K’d both Crews & Tanks, as well as Beloso, Stevenson, & Guidry.

I’m not worried about Thompson hitting he’s going to hit I’m wondering how he’s doing defensively
