These are not neutral sites if you ask me

Just conveniently forgetting we opened in NOLA this past year. 2017 BYU in NOLA as well. It all washes in the end

I actually don’t mind them. I have gone to a bunch of them and usually like making a Labor Day weekend vacation out of them.

LSU football is one of the most profitable industries in college sports, so I don't think we are struggling to pay the bills. For once, it would be nice for LSU to do something that benefits the fans, although maybe not the biggest money maker.

At some point the AD might want to pause and consider maybe Less Is More. Perhaps opening from Seattle to Syracuse and Green Bay to UCLA, not mentioning out of state “locals”, it might need a rest to the fans benefits. Plus, opening away isn’t always helpful. Don’t remember us ever adopting a ‘We’ll play anybody, anytime, anywhere’ motif, not that we couldn’t carry that out successfully. Personally I’ve always favored ‘home and away’.

My addressing opening away in a neutral site post is a faux pas. I should have expressed my dislike for opening thousands of miles from TS and its fans by opening a New Topic. Sorry, my error.

Then, in 2027, we go to Houston to play the Cougars in Houston’s NRG Stadium. That's practically home for them!
UH doesn't draw

This year home crowds
Kansas 30,317
Rice 26,377
Tulane 24,319
USF 24,228
Temple 21,731
Tulsa 21,785

I'm not worried about NRG being a home game for Cougar High.

I mean was this originally scheduled as a home game for us? If not then I really dont see the issue.

If it's in a good city with a good venue, i.e. Vegas, Nola, and/or Dallas, I like a neutral site game.

Those 'proposed' big home/home games are a good ways off AND for some idiotic reason, the LSU scheduling 'brain-trust' continues to schedule the fist game AWAY...weather,pandemic and a myriad of other reasons, seem to lead to NO return game to LSU...tell me I'm wrong ! Also, these 'contracts' are soooo open ended, many of these proposed series NEVER take place ! The only certain thing we can count on is MORE money-grab games at neutral sites = pathetic Verge...PATHETIC !!

Don't buy tickets

That worked, in 2022 vs FSU. LSU fans stayed home as if to boycott the game in the MB Superdome. Florida State bought out the stadium, and earned an unexpected home game-- nothing neutral about it, with the Seminole war chants all night long.

Stop charging the full tradition find amounts in any season where you have a neutral site game.

Absolute horseshite.

Why does playing Houston in Houston get more money than in BR?

TV money. Games at tiger stadium are broadcast under the SEC tv contract, so really no extra money. These neutral site games get their own contracts that the 2 teams split and it more than makes up for only selling half a stadium worth of tickets and concessions.

Good point and for all we know LSU might demand 60% after all we are the bigger national draw.

NRG being a home game

It won't be for the Cougars. NRG has always been LSU Central, even in that mockery of a Texas Bowl last year v K State. I expect LSU to have 3 times as many fans at that game as UH-- the Houston alumni love their Tigers, it's not like New Orleans.

My family and me being some of those 'crap ton'. And, I can't wait! We are 50/50 on heading to Orlando this fall also. Absolutely love going to Florida (always hit the Gulf Coast when we do) but Orlando is getting to be such a bitch to get around in that it's almost not worth the trip. It's always been challenging, but in the last five years or so it's gotten downright shitty. Maybe I'm just getting old and losing my patience.
We went to the 2018 game in Dallas - absolutely loved it! Great time.

Can we start a formal petition / letter to issue to the administration / athletic department to do away with the neutral site games?

$$$

Those games are worth many more millions than opening at home against Furman...

Also teams are being pressured to raise the quality of OOC games and few want to commit to home and home games.

Lastly, these games have a big impact on recruiting hot bed areas like Houston, Dallas, GA and FL

Houston is the largest out of state LSU alumni group. They petition FOR this game...
