Suspending baits and shallow lipped jerkbaits work great for this. Also you can change out to the inline single hooks instead of treble which helps with cutting down on the issues with grass. No weight or lightly weighted "fluke" style soft plastics are another good option and you can rig weedless with a "worm hook". Great report.

Thanks man, that's a big compliment coming from you.

And yeah, I really need to practice jerkbaits. I actually did throw one on this trip and it only caught a 4" (no lie) trout. But I do need to practice these lures because man when fish hit them they feel like monsters.
