I lost my best friend from high school to suicide about 8 years ago. Me and him grew up very differently. He had a pretty rough childhood: Dad was addicted to pain pills, mom was an alcoholic, lots of abuse growing up, but the guy had a heart of gold. Loved to make people laugh.
I was very fortunate to grow up in a pretty normal, happy home. During high school, he basically lived with us for about 3 years.
The day I got the call, I was devastated. For years, I had been carrying a lot of guilt with me thinking I could have maybe helped him though whatever it was until I was visited by him in a dream. We hugged each other and he said he was sorry. He also looked happier and more content than I had ever seen him.
I woke up in tears and told my wife (no pics) what had happened. I feel like that dream done more for me than any kind of therapy could have ever helped. All guilt and pain has been gone since that night knowing he was at peace.
