Coming down for Mardi Gras for a more family friendly celebration. Where are the family friendly parades and activities?
Where are places to stay outside just the City?

Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas to name a few. All jokes aside, please be careful if you do come to Mardi Gras. And make sure nothing is of value in your car. If you want a more family experience, we use to do Metairie parades instead of New Orleans. I'm not sure if the route is the same as the last time I was there, but we would go to Veterans Ave and do the truck parade.

I am no expert but my I have taken my family a couple of times. It's probably too late but if you can get a place on St. Charles that's the way to do it imo. Just walk out of your hotel and you're on the parade route, don't have to mess with parking, trying to get in/out, can run back up to your room if you need to because the parades are looong if you have kids.

Still would need a lot more information to help much, but the most family friendly set up for a good parade is to catch Thoth on Magazine Street on Sunday morning. That is their own route and it's not all that crowded and lots of families out there.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Bringing my 10 year old and visiting my LSU freshman. I did a float a couple of years ago with my friends and it was North of the City and I believe it was Metairie area. We'll arrive Friday thru Wednesday. So any ideas besides the ones at night I've seen downtown would be great. I really wish I could have found a krewe that was kid friendly to join. We unfortunately forgot the name of the truck or krewe we joined a few years ago. But I know it was a few floats lining up North of the City and we had to be there at the crack of dawn. Lol. It was a long but rewarding day!
