For some reason it’s like night and day difference

And it looks like the prevailing winds will be out of the south through next weekend.

I’m actually seeing the wind shift north 5-15 mph starting Thursday morning. Anyone else seeing rut activity? So far, it’s been a slow year

Walk out of the door and feel that muggy south breeze, it kills my motivation.

I’m west of Centreville and although I’ve seen lots of rubs and some scrapes in the past few weeks there’s not signs of rutting. I’ve been hunting since Friday morning and all I’ve seen are three does and a yearling 4-point. I blew a grunt call at two of the does and they simply ignored it, which tells the bucks aren’t pestering them.

That’s in line with us. Going back Thursday in hope that the rut starts then. Not tomorrow lol

Around my place 2 bucks were killed one on 12/30 and the other on 1/1.
The one on the 30th was a young 8, no sign of any rut hocks were clean.

Son killed a broken up 7 pt older deer all rutted up. You could smell his hocks from across the field.

I have pics of does and bucks eating in green fields together not chasing, Also had a guy watch a big buck Sat chasing at 11am.

with all that said i will hunt as much as i can between now and last day of the season

Most animals hate heat and humidity. But they also hate cold winds too. And then there is the atmospheric pressure difference in the two. Ask yourself when you are most active and inactive and then ask yourself how it would be if you had to live outside 24/7 where the bugs make a BIG difference in anything living outside in LA. I know cows like it like I do. 50’s -60’s with a slight breeze and dry. Occasional 40’s when dry and occasional high 70’s when dry.

“Lock down” isn’t what everybody seems to think. Do some googling. It lasts 12-48 hours and then the buck moves on to another doe.
