There's no road to the top of Mt Leconte. You have to hike to the top. Shortest route is 5 miles, and the second half is pretty steep. Supplies are brought up via llama train.
Calling it a "lodge" is extremely generous. Beautiful views, though.

I rode on horseback to the top and back in 1979. It was a hell of a ride. Just one guide and I and two high spirited mountain horses. Actually 4 horses as we switched out for some fresh ones halfway up.
Would love to go up there again. Beautiful place and the only time I have seen mountains.
