In theory, if Jaylen Brown really is on the block, would you do a deal based on Pels trading BI for Brown? I know Pels talked to Cs about him in 2019 as part of an AD or Jrue trade. But Brown had been benched that year and was out of favor with Ainge. Now we’d probably have to sweeten the deal some.
I was, and am, firmly against trading Brandon for Durant, due mainly to the age difference. But a deal for Brown would be tempting as he’s more durable and may be a better fit next to Zion as a second star….

I beg to differ, have you watched Herb this year? offensively, you'd like to see him connect more beyond the arc, however defensively he has been a top 3 perimeter defender in the league.

He's probably on the block only for Durant. But if they offered him up and swung and missed again I wouldn't be stunned if he wanted out in the offseason.

Get Malik Beasley
I still like the idea of getting Beasley and Vanderbilt.
Herb/Naji to Denver
Bones, Graham, Hayes 1st to Jazz
Beasley, Vanderbilt to Pels
Also opens a roster spot and close to 4 million under the tax (we still have our MLE available) to try to lure someone here on the buyout market

yes simply because of durability. He's also a better defender.

Kennard fits this team perfectly. I'd prefer him to Beasley. Him or Alec Burks is who I want.
No OG, no Collins.

quote:I agree. He has a nice contract and can play spot minutes as needed. I would not trade him unless it was part of a bigger deal to get an upgrade elsewhere. I certainly would not do it for a 2nd rounder.
Am I thinking any return on Willy is worth less than what he can/cannot provide during the season?
I feel like keeping him, feeding him minutes (obviously offensively he's decent enough) to reduce the wear on JV is better than a random 2nd round pick.

Billy's main complaint was he wasn't playing, which he is now. He also probably didn't think it was right that Jaxson was above him in the rotation.
Unless they swap Jaxson for a big Willie would play, the team definitely should keep Billy. If you end up turning JV into a more defensively skewed center this summer, having Billy as a 6th man version of JV will be nice to have around.

Nets couldn’t find a third team

Pelicans should empty the warchest for Durant.
If Brooklyn wants to reset then offer 5 first round picks and Temple, Hayes, Billy, Lewis, Daniels, and Graham.
Picks can be Lakers swap 2023
Pels pick in 2025
Pels pick in 2027
Both Milwaukee picks
Go win it all.

I think Brooklyn has made it pretty clear they’re trying to do everything possible not to trade him.
That’s not even beginning to factor in that a 6 for 1 trade never happens in season in the NBA because teams don't have the roster spots.
Then add in that your trade kills all of our depth and puts us 5 million into the tax with no way to add other players.

You have a lineup of
C - JV / Nance
PF - Zion / Murphy
SF - Durant / Marshall
SG - Ingram / Herb
PG - McCullom / Jose
What depth do you need?

One thing I’ve seen is they want to upgrade Wall. They probably want draft assets to make that happen and probably don’t want salary like Graham back.

They can still make it a non-simultaneous trade. Only rules are they can’t combine other salaries from their team unless it is for deals that would work separately.
Ex - DFS and Dinwiddie for about $30m in salary works. DFS and Seth Curry for about $16m in salary doesn’t work unless DFS can be traded completely independent of Curry.

You need a Billy who can help you get a win on a B2B
You need guys to practice against. You need young players to develop.
Look at the NBA and every team recently thats given up everything they have to land a star player. It doesn’t work out for them.
Lakers and AD
Wolves and Rudy
Clippers and PG
Nets and Harden
Rockets and Westbrook
This is not even getting into the fact that there’s only one ball, how you plan on giving 20+ shots a game to 4 guys?
The only way a KD trade works out for us is by sending BI and a pick or two at most.

Would Durant want to come here? It’s the first question for any Durant move.

Seems like there’s some smoke about the Magic sending Suggs to Toronto

Interesting, I wonder what else Toronto would have to send to Orlando for that to work.
